The inaugural shoot of the Calvin Klein series features the remarkable Belinda, marking the beginning of an exciting creative journey. What truly captivates me about this series is the curiosity it sparks: how many distinct interpretations can I craft with a variety of models before a recognizable pattern of poses inevitably emerges? This evolving challenge fuels my artistic exploration.
Participating in a branded series like Calvin Klein is exhilarating because it places me within a dynamic collective of models and photographers. Together, we contribute to a vibrant portfolio that captures unique energies and perspectives, constantly reshaping the narrative of fashion photography.
Selecting poses may appear straightforward, yet I often find myself diverging from guidelines much like assembling IKEA furniture, where instructions rarely dictate my final creation. I embrace this deviation because it leaves room for serendipity, allowing genuine moments of artistry to arise. While inspiration provides a valuable foundation, authentic creativity often demands the willingness to fail, uncovering unexpected breakthroughs in the process. After all, what is failure but a stepping stone toward true originality?
This philosophy underpins my approach: balancing intentionality with spontaneity, structure with improvisation, to reveal portraits that transcend mere images and resonate with life.
Throughout my journey in photography and collaborating with models, I have discovered a heightened level of professionalism that permeates every aspect of the process. It demands anticipating countless possibilities from the initial concept to the final execution because we are collectively investing not only an entire afternoon but also resources such as clothing, makeup, props, or whatever materials are on hand to bring the vision to life. The culmination of meticulous planning—through phone calls, text messages, and curated mood boards—ultimately transforms what once seemed complex into an effortless experience.
When the day finally arrived, the result exceeded all my expectations. It was a resounding success, made all the more rewarding by teaming up with a good friend on such an enjoyable project.
